Five Kitchen Things I Can’t Live Without

Five Kitchen Things I Can’t Live Without

Over the years, I’ve come to find that there are a couple of items that have made my cooking experience so much easier. I’ve narrowed it down to the top five items that I simply can’t let go of.

Cast Iron Skillet

Ever since I got my Le Creuset Skillet, we have been inseparable. It heats and maintains heat so well, it can go in the oven, it gets a lovely crisp on anything I’m making. It definitely took me a little to adjust and learn how to use it (I’d been using nonstick beforehand) but now that I’ve got the hang of it I’m never going back.

Meat Thermometer

Say goodbye to the days of guessing about whether your meat is done. Using a meat thermometer has ensured that I stopped overcooking chicken because I was paranoid about whether it was cooked enough. You can get them so cheap on Amazon too.

A good knife

I cannot emphasize enough the difference that a good knife makes. Truly. I’ve had the Misen knives for years and love it so much.

Rice Cooker

My old roommate introduced me to a rice cooker and my world was truly changed. I absolutely hate cooking rice on the stove and checking if it’s done. This takes all of the guess work out of it, and allows you to focus on everything else you’re cooking instead!

Kitchen Scale

I have only recently started to use a kitchen scale, but it is great when you want to follow a recipe exactly. Especially for baking, when precision matters a lot more.
